Common Questions About Gas Work

Do I need a permit for gas work at my home?

In BC, a gas permit is required for most installations, alterations, and appliance connections. We handle the permit application as part of the job so you don't have to deal with the paperwork. DIY gas work without a permit can void insurance and create serious safety risks.

How do I know if I have a gas leak?

Common signs include the smell of rotten eggs, hissing sounds near lines or appliances, dead vegetation over a buried line, or a higher-than-normal gas bill. If you suspect a leak, leave the building, don't use any switches or phones inside, and call your gas utility's emergency line first — then call us for the repair.

Can you convert my propane appliance to natural gas?

In many cases, yes. Most ranges, furnaces, and fireplaces can be converted with a manufacturer conversion kit and an adjustment to orifices and regulators. We'll confirm your model is convertible before quoting the work.

How much does a gas line install cost?

Cost depends on the distance from the meter, the type of pipe required, wall and floor access, and the appliance being fed. A short run to a nearby range is very different from a long run to a detached garage. We provide a written quote after seeing the site.

Do you install gas lines for outdoor BBQs and fire tables?

Yes. We run dedicated gas lines to permanent BBQs, fire tables, patio heaters, and outdoor kitchens, including the quick-connect fittings so you can easily disconnect the appliance when needed.

How long does a typical gas fitting job take?

A straightforward appliance hookup often takes a few hours. Running a new line through finished walls, or installing a fireplace, can take a full day or more. We'll give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
