Is Okanagan water hard?

Most of it, yes. Vernon, Kelowna, and much of the North Okanagan have measurably hard water — scale on fixtures, spotted dishes, reduced hot water tank life. A softener makes a significant difference for most homes.

Do I need a water softener if I'm on city water?

Many Okanagan homeowners on municipal water benefit from a softener purely for scale control and appliance longevity, even though the water is safe to drink. Kelowna and Vernon municipal supplies are both on the harder side.

I'm on a well — what do I need?

Well water needs testing for bacteria, iron, hardness, and sometimes sulfur. Depending on results, a combination of softener, filtration, and UV is common — we recommend from the test, not from assumption.

What's the difference between a filter and an RO system?

Whole-home filters handle taste, chlorine, and sediment at every tap. Reverse osmosis is point-of-use (usually the kitchen) and produces very pure drinking water. Many homes run both for different purposes.
